On Tuesday last, James Duerden, a promising centre from near Ulverston, signed for Kendal, and played his first game for 1st XV at Vale of Lune.

Twenty one year old James played for Askam RL in the summer season, and was top scorer in their league with 19 tries. He has not played a lot of rugby union, though he did have two week's trials with Worcester Warriors two years ago, when he also played centre.
He played for BARLA Great Britain XIII at Under 19 age group at centre, though he played loose forward for his own club.
James is keen to "give it a bash", and I'm sure you will give him a warm welcome if he is selected for his first home game next Saturday.
He is another long list of farmer's sons to play for the Black and Ambers.
