Congratulations to Kendal College’s Ben Hall (pictured) and Kate Birchall (also a Kendal Ladies Rugby Wasp) who have recently qualified as level one young referees.

Refereeing is traditionally something retiring players entered into once their playing career came to an end, but I’m happy to say this is now changing and the opportunities for employment and travel in the senior game are amazing. As a result, we are seeing more and more young people plying their trade as referees in our sport.

Good luck to both Ben and Kate and I hope they continue to enjoy their Rugby for a long time to come.
