'Rugby Aware' Course Parts 1 & 2 to be held at Kendal Rugby Club

Putting player welfare at the heart of the game and supporting clubs to provide a safe playing environment and develop high quality coaching

Whether a coach, match official, teacher, parent, volunteer or player… Rugby Aware is an opportunity for everyone involved in rugby union to gain knowledge and understanding on some of the current topics in the game especially on player welfare and player safety, RFU programmes and initiatives, available resources and training opportunities.

Part One – Indoor Session (1 ½ hours)
1. What’s happening in your local rugby community
2. Activate - Injury Prevention Exercise Programme – Study findings
3. RugbySafe & HEADCASE
4. Touchline behaviour 5. Signposting / previewing

Part Two - Outdoor Practical for Coaches (optional – 1 ½ hours)
The 90 minute session will introduce coaches to the Activate - Injury Prevention Exercise Programme. This programme has been developed following a four year study which showed injuries rates including concussion can be reduced when players follow a specifically designed exercise programme as part of their training and pre-match warm up.
