Chris Park’s 14 points against Workington last week, took him to 781 points, passing Dan Stephens and Mark Ireland who were tied on 771, to become the fifth highest scorer for the club in modern times (I have no scoring details pre-1950), having already passed Paul Dodds 710 earlier in the season.
Still ahead are David Bell (2940), Keith Ridding (1417), Jason Hudson (945), Mike Scott (855).
As mentioned before, despite the points total, his scoring opportunities have often been limited as he has played with a number of the other highest scorers, including Dan Stephens, Mark Ireland, and now Glenn Weightman (493).
Chris made his debut in 2003/04, according to the Centenary Book, joining from the unlikely source of Kendal Football club, having previously had trials for Preston and Blackburn Rovers.
Whilst mainly playing at fullback, he has made over 80 appearances on the wing, and 30 at outside half, plus a handful in the centre, but no sign of a start at scrum half – or in the pack.
