Sorry this is late! The now annual old boys game between Kendals 2 schools. QKS were winners last year who came out on top in Christmas 2014
On Saturday 27th Dec Kendal RUFC hosted it’s now annual fixture between the 2 local secondary school old boys. Ex pupils from Queen Katherine School (Formally Longlands) and Kirkbie Kendal (Kendal Grammar) clashed for the 2nd year running. Around 40 players attended from regular faces at the club to old friends traveling from all around the UK to grace the turf of Mint Bridge.
The Game was a competitive affair with both sides contesting the breakdown area fiercely Queen Katherine school were close to taking the lead in the 1st 20 min period when a kick through was judged to bounce dead in goal before Dan Wilson grounded it. The 1st try of the game came from Ash Hill who had carried the ball strongly all day powered over from some a solid Kirkbie Kendal scrum.
In the final 20 min Period Kirkbie Kendal scored the game’s 2nd try through Daniel Bowles (an old regular prop for the 1st team) who missed the conversion attempt leaving the score 10 – 0 to Kirkbie Kendal until the final whistle. The day was a massive success and will be running again next year.
