First Competitive Fixture

Some say that the Auld Greys are old enough to know better, others that they should stay indoors on a Winters afternoon. All we know is that brains and expertise wins.

In a rearranged fixture, the BTEC students from Kendal College came along as part of their course to play against the Auld Greys to see what its like to work with the more mature end of the playing spectrum.

After coaching of the basic rules, format of the game and some drills, they were reminded that as they were playing against those who are old enough to be their parents and or grandparents, that one had a pacemaker, another a hip replacement (plus one who is waiting for one) someone else a transplant recipient, they should be able to work out what the opposition was like.

The students were split into teams and put into the round robin circuit of matches. Not that the Auld Greys are competitive (Heaven forbid that anyone would suggest this!) but, in a nut shell, the students did not win.

Thank you to James Saxon from the college for helping to arrange this, and it was a pleasure to entertain and play against you.

They shall be back in a few weeks to learn more, and we will be happy to teach them.
