A Perfect Day For Rugby!

On what was a perfect morning for rugby, the under 8s welcomed Garstang and Carlisle to the Hornets Nest.

The 8s arrived in a massive swarm comprising of 30 players, a fantastic turn out, Frank, Emma, Thomas, Reuben, Freddie, Rhys, Haiden, William, Joe, Sammy, Oliver, Toby, Eve, Louis, Chris, Ben, Jack, Joseph, Josh, Johnny, Connor, Declan, Matthew, Caitlin, Lucas, Charlie, George, Jake, Idris, and Gus.

The guys were split into 3 teams, Garstang and Carlisle both brought 1 team each.

For the Kendal side, it was chance to put into practice all the new skills that they have been developing over the last few weeks.

Catching, passing, using all the space available, putting our mates into space, and also working hard to grab plenty of tags!!

It was very pleasing for all the coaches to see every one of those skills coming to fruition in a game situation, so much so that in one game, a Kendal try came from all 6 players on the pitch handling the ball, and no tags were removed, a proud moment for the coaches.

The Kendal sides all got to play both Garstang and Carlisle, and also had a training game against each other, so plenty of rugby was played.

Garstang and Carlisle then played each other in the final game of the day. Both sides playing some great rugby.

Its impossible to report all of the good things that happened during the games but a few stand out moments were Freddie Ogdens full length of the field try, showing a turn of pace that his dad still has, Idris Morgans running with the ball, very reminiscent of some of the welsh wizards of yesteryear, Sam Birch is a monster in defence, no tag seems to escape! Emma, Eve and Caitlin also showing that its not only the boys that can have all the fun.

A special mention to William and Haiden who were both making their debuts today, both can be very pleased with how they went on their first run out.

Player of the day went to Thomas, who was excellent in every game, Well done.

With a fixture V Fylde next weekend, hopefully the guys can carry on in this form.

Many thanks to all the parents for bringing the guys and for all their support.

Thanks to Stuart, John, and Ross for helping the coaches.

Thanks to the club for organising the fixtures, and to Les and his team for feeding and watering afterwards.

See you all next week at Fylde.
