Hornets U8s had a great day at Newcastle Falcons festival last Sunday (1st November)
Despite being the furthest travelled team in their group (and getting on a bus at 06:30!!), the kids started brilliantly with a try fest against Ryton. Having played matches for the last 3 weeks seemed to have sharpened up everyone's play, and there was great passing and support from all. Hornets won comfortably.
The next match was against a well drilled Rockcliffe team who proved challenging opponents, but the Hornets came back from behind with more great running, passin, and support, as well as some brilliant defence throughout the team. Not 100% sure about the score, as we don't officially keep it, but there can only have been a try in it either way
Match 3 was against Hartlepool, and again the Hornets gave a great account of themselves. This was their best match defensively, with some awesome tagging meaning that when they scored tries they racked up another good victory. Lots of possession, lateral running, and good use of space.
The final match was against Gosforth, and this was another decisive victory , with some lovely flowing rugby, lots of good handling and passing, and more great defending.
Squad : Ethan Davies, Jack Johnson-Murphy, Josh Wright, Koby Hunter, Louie Earp, Alexander Smith, Mason Lowther, Hector Patterson
Great to see the progress the kids are making, with player of the week being harder and harder to decide as each week goes by.
Looking forward to Sunday's match v. Fylde!!
