Great performance, good quality play.

Another fantastic effort by everyone (players and parents) who made the trip to Kirby Lonsdale this Sunday, where we were treated to some excellent rugby from our U8s teams.

Against a team which Kendal’s minis teams have historically struggled against, there were some superb performances across the whole squad achieving some excellent wins, hard fought draws and battling displays with lots of quality even in the games we didn’t manage to win.

From the games I saw it was evident that there is very little difference in quality between the Kirby Lonsdale and Kendal players, which just puts the pressure on us coaches to get our teams playing to a better format and going forward more regularly. It was certainly beneficial to see some of the techniques used by the Kirby Lonsdale teams, and I see no harm in using them for the benefit of our own teams - so plenty of things to work on in the next few weeks.

Congratulations to the players chosen for player of the week, to receive those nominations from your teammates is extra special.

It really is good to see that the decision on player of the week is getting harder and harder each week because of the effort all our players are putting in and the improvements they are making. From the team I was watching I was particular pleased with the improved efforts of Oliver Carter, who after being encouraged to get involved more, we saw some really good forward running, getting the team into good positions to score from.

All our players should be really encouraged by Sunday’s performance; to get the quality we did across all three teams says a lot for the strength of our squad. Very well done everyone.
