Kendal U8s' day trip to Sale Sharks

This weekend our Under 8s travelled to Salford for an excellent day of rugby, superbly hosted by our good friends the Sale Sharks.
The day began with a combined training session with Kendal U9s where our young players were taught the importance of attacking space and defending in depth, through the use of some fun training techniques and expert tips from the Sale Sharks coaches and players.
Our young players did us proud with their endless enthusiasm and energy, and they all took the opportunity to learn and showcase their skills.
After the training session the players moved into the stadium to prepare for the dream team where they got to run out hand in hand with the Sale Sharks team ahead of the game with Wasps, an experience they all loved.

After watching an excellent first half of rugby by the Sale Sharks, it was then down to our two U8 teams to do their stuff on the field at half-time in front of the thousands of supporters. Yet again they did the Kendal club extremely proud, rising to the occasion and putting in two excellent performances to win both games against Sandbach. Both teams showed that the training they received in the morning had been beneficial, displaying good defensive and attacking skills: in game 1; Coen, Logan and Sid defending well to turn the ball over several times and Iestyn, Kurt, Carla and Ben making great attacking runs. It was a similar story in game 2 with the highlight being a complete team try; Tyler, Caleb and Matthew C were everywhere in defence turning the ball over near their try line and allowing good attacking runs from Connor, Blake and Alfie before a final pass allowed the birthday boy Harrison to sprint in for an excellent try in the corner.
The day was then made complete by a bonus point win from Sale Sharks. A thoroughly entertaining day was had by all, and definitely an experience to be encouraged for all future Kendal minis teams. Many thanks Sara for all the hard work in organising a great day out.
