Thanks to Vale of Lune for hosting such an enjoyable morning of rugby.
Kendal traveled with 19 players and split into 2 teams to play a match each against a Vale squad of 10.
Kendal Amber: Barney, Callum, Dan, Elliot, Luke D, Max, Oscar, Robbie, Will N, Will R
Kendal Black: Aaron, Charlie, Jack, James, Jo, Luke M, Nathan, Will H, Ollie,
Kendal Black took to the pitch first and despite some excellent defensive work - with some eye catching tackling from Aaron throughout -we just weren't able to open up the space in attack. The Vale players tackled competitively and combined with some strong runs came away winners of game one.
Kendal Ambers were up next. From the off Barney scored two quick tries which set the tone to the game. Strong in both attack and defence Kendal Ambers won game two.
The two teams then mixed for two 10 minute games. Some cracking rugby was now on display.
Must mention the play of the game, fortuitously captured in the report photograph above. Aaran noted the space out wide, drew the defender and put barney into that space to storm ahead and score, with Robbie in close support. It captures everything we've been working on in training recently: awareness of space, eyes on the pass, receiving the ball at speed, close support and communication. Fantastic - well done Az, Barney and Robbie.
In fact, well done everyone. Great effort and everyone more than deserves to be noted in dispatches: well done Barney, Callum, Dan, Elliot, LukeD, Max, Oscar, Robbie, Will N, Will R, Aaraon, Charlie, Jack, James, Jo, LukeM, Nathan, Will H and Ollie.
The Vale coach took us to one side at the end of the game to nominate Aaron as the player of the day today which was richly deserved - legendary in defence, fantastic awareness in attack, well done.
See you Sunday for more rugby in the sun,
Coach Andrew
