It was another unseasonaly warm game today as Wasps vs Birkenhead kicked off at Kendal.
The Wasps made it extremely hard work for themselves for the duration of the first half, there were several players playing out of position and disorganisation and clumsy passes gave Birkenhead some easy possession. The Wasp forwards made some heavy carries and made it over the try line twice only to be held up by Birkenhead.
The second half kicked off with no points on the board but it didn't stay that way for long. The Wasps sorted out their positioning and a couple of organised phases let Hayley Hodgson find space to score the first try.
Ten minutes later Hodgson then made a speedy run straight down the wing then in towards the sticks to score her second try.
Birkenhead contested each ruck well but it couldn't stop the Wasps now they'd found their rhythm. Michelle Larkin made an excellent run down the middle of the pitch beating off defenders, she made a good pass the Sarah Wilkinson who then scored.
Wilkinson closed the scoring by securing a second try of her own.
Hodgson converted one of the tries resulting in a 22-0 score line.
The Wasps are thrilled with the progression in their skills and teamwork this season and are looking forward to building on this next weekend when they play Carlisle away.
