Kendal Ladies Wasps Make History as Ormskirk are Stung in League Opener

Sunday saw the first league fixture for Kendal Ladies Wasps Team.

Vice-captain Emma Grunnill led the women out on a very wet and miserable day for a match against Ormskirk.

The weather made it a tough game for all, but some great skills were shown and the first half ended level at 5-5 with Kendal try being scored by No 8 Emma Barton.

The second half saw 2 tries from Vanessa Temple and a further one from Sarah Simpson. Vicky Jones narrowly missed converting the tries in the very windy conditions.

Ormskirk ladies hit back straight away against each of Kendal's points with two tries themselves, both of which were converted. The match ended with a win for the Wasps at 20-19, with the game being called with 9 mins to go, due to an injury on the pitch.

Overall a tough game in even tougher conditions and a fabulous start for the Wasps who sit 2nd in the Women's NC North 1 League table.

The next fixture is at home against Southport on Sunday 6th October.
