Wasps Update: Normality resumed…

After struggling with availability last week, Wasps are back up to full strength for a cracking home fixture!

The ‘loan window’ has been firmly closed after the Sheffield odyssey, with the Wasps enjoying increased player availability and return to fitness from injury. The team shapes up with a more familiar resemblance to the victorious team that faced Preston Grasshoppers at Mint Bridge a fortnight ago.
Forwards
Rowan Boardley joins captain Kerry Stevens in the front row, with Aimee Sharp switching from hooker to tight head. Mary Stansfield returns to partner Samara Tomlinson in the second row, whilst last week’s award winners Amy Beard and Emma Rowlinson are joined in the back row by Suzanne Salmon, who finally gets her first start in the pack after missing out on the last two.
Half-Backs
Vice-captain Fleur Stanton has won her battle to be fit to start at fly half, and Cath Sewell returns to partner her in the half-backs.
Backs
The back line is strengthened by the return of Michelle Larkin at full back, after her recent rugby league commitments and Shannon Barnes, Emily Elshaw, Sarah Wilkinson and Hayley Hodgson all retain their places from the Hoppers match.
Replacements
Waiting in the wings are Tracy Johnson, looking to build on an impressive debut in the last home fixture and Caz Clutterbuck, who came out of semi-retirement against Preston and realised how much she missed grafting on a Sunday! Completing the bench trio is Anna Waite, who will make her league debut, becoming the 12th wasp debutant this season so far…
Form
The last games between these two sides have run close and honours are roughly even. Last time they met in Sunderland on 18 September this year, Kendal were triumphant with a much sought after away win, so we can therefore expect a tough match with Sunderland looking to even the score!

The Wasps look forward to entertaining YOU at Mint Bridge this Sunday 18 December.
