Bad Day at the office for the lads!
Match Report by (parent) Mark Singleton: Kendal U17 Colts v Bolton Rugby Club U17 Colts, Sunday 10 Feb 2018
After a week's rest in the league, Kendal faced a home game against Bolton.
Team news: Kendal entered the game without the injured Nathan Wilson and Frazer Fletcher. With Will Coxon unavailable, Owen Singleton donned the fly half jersey, with Casey Morris remaining at scrum half.
Bolton kicked-off towards the river and both teams measured each other up in the early stages. A good passage of forward play led to Liam Gudgeon crossing the line for Kendal's 1st try.
5 v 0
Errors and penalties by both teams followed, but it was Bolton that capitalised and breached the Kendal try line to level the scores.
5 v 5
From the resulting kick-off, James Seaton collected the ball and charged to the Bolton try line only to be held-up short.
Bolton were awarded a scrum on Kendal's 22, which led to them scoring their second try just on half time.
HT: 5 v 10
The 2nd half started similar to the 1st, with both sides testing each other, but it was Kendal who got the breakthrough, with Sam Coleman receiving the ball on a diagonal run to go over the line. Sam also converted his own try.
12 v 10
Bolton then came into the half more, with good plays and ball handling leading to their next try.
12 v 15
Bolton eventually scored their 4th try late on.
12 v 20
Kendal's Matt Paxton and Owen Singleton were replaced due to injuries, but Kendal applied the pressure on Bolton and with good forward momentum saw Kendal awarded a penalty try but it was just too little, too late with Kendal losing by the narrowest of margins.
FT: 19 v 20
It was a 'bad day at the office' for the Kendal lads against a much improved Bolton team.
Thanks again for all the support the team is receiving!
