For the first game of the season at Mint Bridge, the visitors are the longest standing rivals, Vale of Lune, having been Kendal’s very first opponents in September 1905. The teams played each other in almost every season from then until the mid-1990s when League commitments saw a break until two years ago.
Last season the honours were shared, with both teams winning their home games, with Vale, steamrolling Kendal in Lancaster, to end Kendal’s long winning record, and break a long losing streak of their own.
Last weekend Vale made a very impressive start to the season with a 41v31 six tries to four, home win against Penrith.
Thirteen changes, nine positional in the Kendal team from last week with two debuts.
So a good home support would be welcome to be the teams 19th man (with the three replacements) and help the them build on their winning start last weekend
