Broughton Park could be seen as Kendal bogy team over the last two seasons, with three wins out of four. They are one of only three teams in this League, that Kendal have yet to win away at (the others are Kirkby Lonsdale, to be met again a week later, and Blackburn, who will not be visited until April). All three of Kendal losses were however by narrow margins (2, 1, 6 points), with Park’s speedy wings often turning defence into attack.
This season Park are struggling at the bottom of the table, with their only point coming from a narrow loss against fellow strugglers Widnes on the first day of the season, which also gave Widnes their only points of the season. Past experience however, is that Kendal often struggle against teams at the bottom, so this is an important banana skin to negotiate.
A good win will be essential to keep in touch with the top two, Kirkby Lonsdale and Warrington, who are met in Kendal’s next fixtures. This weekend Kirkby have a tough game away at Penrith, whilst Warrington have a difficult trip to Carlisle.
============================================================================
The Kendal team shows a lot of changes, with a very experimental back division. Up front the only changes sees Jack Lashley start, with Liam Hayton moving into the second row in place of Phil Murphy. In the back row Jack Morphet comes in for Chris Downham.
Behind the pack, Dini Noyo starts where he finished against Penrith, at scrum half, whilst Nathan Woof and Glen Weightman swap places. Damian Armstrong comes in in the centre, with Danny Barker starting on the bench, whilst Mark Carruthers comes in on the wing. Dan Boardley and James Thompson start on the bench.
