After the romps of the last two games at Mint Bridge, against teams at the wrong end of the table, this weekend it should become a much tougher task.
Warrington led the table earlier in the season, and whilst they have dropped back to fourth, they still have a very good home record, with just the draw against Kirkby, and a loss against Rochdale, but they have recently lost away to Widnes, and had a narrow 5 point victory over Carlisle, then on their last outing were well beaten by a Penrith team, that had pushed Kendal and Kirkby all the way in previous games, to now find themselves now 14 points adrift of the top three.
Two seasons ago, Kendal put in one of their best performances of the season, to take a long standing ground record with a 10v32 win, but last season Warrington got their revenge running Kendal ragged 34v7, with Kendal's only score coming in the final minutes of the game.
With Broughton Park visiting Kirkby this weekend, and Widnes visiting Wilmslow, a top performance will be required to keep the pressure up at the top.
REVISED TEAM SELECTION : A few late changes from the original team selection
Ben Leacock comes into the second row, (for Phil Murphy) with James Thompson on the bench. In the back row, Josh Chaplow who came off the bench early last week to replace Jack Morphet, starts there.
Behind the pack Zane Butler moves into the centre to replace Damian Armstrong, with Chris Park coming on to the right wing.
Matty Houghton, who was originally selected on the left wing, remains in his normal back row slot, with Mark Carruthers on the wing.
Rob Wightman makes a rare appearance in the 1st XV squad, joining an all forward bench.
WEATHER : A showery afternoon is currently forecast for Warrington on Saturday, and no sign of a hard frost overnight, but heavy rain and even snow is forecast there until late afternoon on Friday.
