Another weekend of weird results, with a lot of close games (including ours)

The only team not to pick up a league point, was bottom club Leigh who lost to Kirkby who stay top, just one point above us, having played one game more, after our postponement against Blackburn last weekend.

Whilst Leigh continue to struggle, Kirkby were the latest team to fail to pick up a try scoring bonus point against them. Leigh have only conceded three despite their twelve losses.

After winning ten in a row, Wilmslow have now lost three in a row, with Eccles the latest to overcome them. Warrington also dropped points on the leaders with a 19 all draw at Blackburn. Like Kirkby, they have both played a game more than us, having survived without a postponement so far.

Widnes got their first win since the opening day of the season at home against Carlisle, so with Broughton Park getting a losing bonus point against Altrincham Kersal, to add to their win against Eccles last week, the gap to between them and Carlisle at the bottom, is down to five points

In the mid-table battle, Rochdale squeezed home against Penrith.

Three weeks off now, until Rochdale are the visitors to Mint Bridge on the 9th of January (unless the Blackburn game is re-arranged in between).

Enjoy an excellent Christmas and New Year, and come back refreshed for what looks as if it could be an exciting second half to the season, with the away loss at Kirkby, the only reverse on an otherwise excellent opening set of fixtures.

If you can’t wait, remember there is a game at Mint Bridge at 1.30pm on the Sunday 27th December for a very good cause >>>>>
