Fourth vs Third, but Waterloo started 16 points (four wins) clear, although they had played an extra game. Kendal selected a similar team to the one who played in their 31v10 loss away at Broughton Park last weekend. The game had been moved onto the 3G pitch.
With no First XV game, and the Wasps game on Sunday postponed, a number of players from both teams were watching.
Waterloo had the better of the early play, attacking the river end. Kendal had to make an early change, after an injury to centre Thom Leman.
On possibly their first visit to the Waterloo half, Kendal opened the scoring. Joe Fiddler drove a kick from within his own half into the opposition twenty-two, to get his team the put in. The lineout was won, and the pack set up a powerful drive, and when that was stopped started another, and finally second row Tom Keast broke away to score. McKenzie Cousins added the conversion. 7v0
Kendal started to dominate and added a second try after twenty minutes. Kendal moved the ball right, and prop Jack Blocksidge popped up at pace to break the defence, then bounced out of one tackle to score 12v0.
A third try was added after half an hour. Another strong lineout drive, and when Waterloo were penalised the ball was put to touch, and the ball was won and another drive was set up with Barney Coxon, playing in the backrow, getting the touchdown. McKenzie Cousins added the conversion. 19v0.
Just before halftime Kendal were awarded a penalty in front of the posts. Rather than looked for the try from short range, McKenzie Cousins was given the kick to give Kendal a 22v0 halftime lead.
The lead was extended five minutes into the second half. Fullback Joe Fiddler, ran back a kick down the right, and after the ball was recycled several times and moved wide to the left McKenzie Cousins scored, then converted his own try. 29v0.
Five minutes later Waterloo pulled a score back. A kick out of defence was followed and the ball regained, and good inter-passing resulted in a try, which was converted 29v7.
Waterloo had often tried to move the ball wide in the first half, but poor passing had let them down, but now passes were starting to stick and stretching the Kendal defence and a second try followed. 29v12.
Seven minutes later Waterloo added a third try, which was converted 29v19.
Waterloo were now well on top with fifteen minutes to play, and several Kendal players seemed to be struggling with the pace, and several times, when it appeared ball had been stolen, the young referee decided illegal, and Waterloo ran the ball quickly.
The call from the coaches was to leave turnovers to Greg Wrathall and Barney Coxon, to cut out the penalties, and several times Coxon forced penalties, to break up Waterloo attacks.
Kendal held out, and even added a late try, with a bullocking run from Tadhg Butler to touch down under the post, with McKenzie Cousins adding the conversion with the final kick of the game. 36v19.

WASPS
Were due to be away on Sunday at Birkenhead Park, in a game postponed due to bad weather earlier in the season, only it is off again due to waterlogged pitches.
At least this will give the many injured extra time to make a recovery.
