Fixtures published on rfunorth.com website

At last we have a fixture list...first game away at Durham City 7th September.

Dates for warm up games will be published soon.

When I saw the fixtures I thought we may be doing something for the first time since 2005, but having checked all the way from there I found we did it just three years ago. Start a season with a totally new set of opponents from the previous one.

Morley and Pocklington were on the fixture list as recently as two seasons ago, whilst Cleckheaton were there three years ago.

Percy Park, Bradford & Bingley and West Hartlepool were on the fixture list in 2012/13 (not a good year).

I think we will be playing our first competitive fixtures against Driffield, Malton & Norton and Huddersfield YMCA.

Moortown were once regular opponents, but were last played in 1977. Scarborough have been played once at Mint Bridge in 1985/6, whilst York were met away in the cup in 1993/4 (and were the inspiration for the Supporters Club).

Our first opponents Durham City were once regular opposition, but have not been played since the 1995/6, and like Moortown, this will be the first time we have played them more than once in a season.

Durham are one of three promoted teams in the Division (with Moortown, plus West Hartlepool who won the play-off), finishing as Champions whilst only losing twice, one with a losing bonus points, picking up 22 try scoring bonus points, whilst scoring 1293 and conceding only 474. So it looks a very tough place to start.

Our first home game is against Scarbrough who finished runners up last season.

So we may know a lot about how life will go in N1E next season after just two games.
