"Mud, mud, glorious mud!! Wow that certainly was a very wet and muddy match of tag rugby!! Well done to all the Hornets for playing their very best, despite the conditions!
We had another fantastic turn out, with 18 keen players making the pilgrimage to Kirby Lonsdale. 3 teams were duly selected and played in a round robin with an equally keen KL squad.
All matches were initially played at a fantastic tempo with plenty of tries and tags scored by both squads! Sadly, the beautiful game quickly turned into a modern form or mud-wrestling as the pitches began to cut up badly and turn into a queasy quagmire!! This actually seemed to galvanise the players more and their enjoyment and confidence visibly grew as the conditions worsened! In fact, the only grumbling came from the coaches and parents!! Well done kids, everyone made a massive effort and played really well.
There were some stand out performances, with Caitlin, Gus, Louis and Idris really shining on a gloomy morning! However, this week the "Player of the Week" award went to George, who didn't stop running and scored some sumptuous tries and defended like a true bull-dog!! Well done!
