A 16 hour long trip to Newcastle

Early, early early start to the day for our trip over to Newcastle to take part in the Land Rover Cup Festival Tournament Thingummyboy.

Over the day, we played Sunderland, Northern, Gateshead & Tynedale.

The games were 12 minutes long, one way, which caught us out, as we didn't start playing until the 10th minute in game #1.
We may have scored a try, but the other team scored several. Looking on the bright side, it woke everyone up.

Game #2 was a close affair which ended in a draw. This was a much better showing by the U12's, who were keen to try and play a passing game, even if it didn't always work.

Game #3 was when it all clicked and they played the best that they'd managed all season. The tackling was effective (& low), rucking and mauling was coordinated, the backs ran some good lines and the forwards really applied themselves to the task in hand.
Bravo

Game #4 was the closest of the day. Kendal carried on from the good things that they'd done in game #3 and were being matched every step of the way by the oppostion. With the scores even and the game starting to move in Kendals favour, play was stopped slightly early so that an injured player could be looked after (thankfully, it was not as serious as it first looked).
No complaints though, as a draw was a fair reflection on the close play and cracking attitude displayed by both teams.

Off we went to Kingston Park for hot food, pop and a seat in the stand to watch the Falcons vs Saints game.

One quick phone call later and we're invited onto the pitch to be awarded the Land Rover Spirit Of Rugby award for the good attitude and sportsmanship that the team had displayed all day.
Richly deserved guys, you should ALL be very proud of yourselves.

It was a very good way to finish off a very good day.
