A demanding day of rugby, but the lads, to their credit, kept at it, and after learning some pretty tough lessons were rewarded in the final game.

As coaches, we do our best to give all players equal game time, which today resulted in quite heavy rotation between matches - probably more so than any other team we played. Our opposition were well organised, and experienced in festival play.

No excuses though. As we progress through the age groups, it's simply not possible to rely on a few players to see us through games. From 1 to 12, all players need to be ready - both mentally and physically. Ready from the first whistle. And ready to work hard for the full game.

Game 5 showed what we can do. From the start, we exerted pressure on Vale by closing down space, quickly, not giving them time to play (as we had been subject to for the first four games!). Every player contributed. Our defence was solid, only missing 1 or 2 tackles in the whole game. Our running was strong, and the pressure eventually paid off with Ollie and Charlie crossing the line for our first tries of the day. Final score 2-1.

Interestingly our next fixture is against Vale, let’s be ready!

Craig took some great pictures which are available on the Kendal rugby supporters Facebook site (https://www.facebook.com/kendalrugbysupporters/). Thanks Craig J
