After a five week break, the team finally return to Mint Bridge, and have a big challenge on their hands, to back up their superb victory away at Scarborough last weekend.
Driffield are in second place, but would probably been expected to be joint top, dropping points last weekend when held to a draw at home to Durham City, only the fourth time they have not won this season. The others coming away to Pocklington and Scarborough (where we did win) and at home to Cleckheaton (who we ran close away from home).
Theirs will be the longest journey any other club has to make this season.
Having now seen all our opposition in action, Driffield are certainly (in my opinion) the best we have seen, and along with Durham City are the only teams we did not have a realistic chance of victory against as the game came to an end. So a tough test, but if the team are at their very best, hopefully it will be another close game.
So often at the old Mint Bridge the team pulled off unexpected results against teams from the top of their leagues, but since the move (although we came very close in the very first game against Preston Grashoppers), the team have yet to get a big win against one of the better teams at the new Mint Bridge. So hopefully this weekend can be the first of many to come.
TEAM : Just the one change from last weekend’s squad with Rory Blakeney-Edwards who was unavailable come onto the wing in place of Dan Shorrock (hopefully he will see a bit more of the ball than Dan did last weekend)
WEATHER : Sounds as if it could be a repeat of the York game with heavy rain and strong winds forecast (the forecast has improved over the last few days and there is still time to get better still – or just be wrong). So come prepared, or get down early to for a good spot on the balcony or in the stand.
