report from Frank Jameson

A fine display at Mint Bridge on Saturday, allowed Kendal to score eleven tries in total as Littleboroough were totally outclassed in the, eighty minutes of the game.

Five tries were scored in the first half, with the following scoring the first half tries - Bret Ashley - first try - 5-0, Dan Wilson - second try - 10 - 0

Break from Carruthers, finished by Benjy Platt & conversion by Carruthers - 17-0,. Nick Carlton scored another try down the middle - 22-0,

Loughborough fought back - 1st try :

29 - 5 half time.

second try for the Lancs lads - 29-10

Hard work by Loughborough on Kendal line for a while, but Kendal broke away again - Carruthers try - 34-10.

Dan Greenwood showed a fine turn of speed, as he followed a fine break by Chris Evans up the middle. Chris showed an excellent pass to give Dan a fine try under the posts, though the conversion was missed. 39 -10 to have Kendal well in charge.

It was obvious that Littleborough were stirring, as they were starting to get back in the game. But the Kendal pack had had enough, and Gary Holmes was showing a little more of what he had been missing since the last few months stopped his fighting spirit. now in front! 49-10

Yet another break by Carruthers down towards the clubhouse end , and Tony Bingham was on his shoulder to give a scoring pass to Nick Carlton by the posts,44-10 to the delight of his fan club got his first try since last January. -

We must not forget to mention Rob Whiteman setting a fine example as captain in the second row, and livening up Ben Leacock matters up near to him.

Benjy Platt scored his second try after another break by Mark Carruthers close to the line.56-10. Then Mark Carruthers scored yet another touchdown just before the final whistle. 63-10, Loughborough scored a consolation try towards the final whistle - 63- 17.

I must mention finally Willy Hintt for some fine work in the forwards, as he worked back to fitness after his long fight to after his long fight back from his leg break nearly one year from his long fight. from New Zealand. Willy deserves the fight back to be close to fitness and the 1st XV.

Will was recommended by our old friend, Noodles, who sent Will from his club of Ashburton, near Christchurch, where Noodles , now a father, has many friends at our club. Many Kendal lads have returned the pleasure with visits to New Zealand, and the pleasure between the two clubs is mutual.

I look forward to Will carrying on to his fine progress up the tree of progress at Kendal and England.
