Match report from Broughton park 2nds vs Kendal 2nds

After that away defeat to Kirkby Lonsdale 2nds last week, newly promoted Kendal 2nds are now properly up and running.
A sluggish start saw Kendal 7-0 down after 5 minutes. Broughton Park pack were more powerful and looked to bully kendal at scrum time. Kendal had their chances but many opportunities went begging. A nice piece of handling from left to right saw Anthony Gage score in the corner. 7-5 and back to work.
A string of penalties against Kendal for ill discipline had added to the pressure. Two penalty kicks to Broughton Park 13-5 half-time.

Crisis? What crisis? Captain Rob Wightman's ankle forced him off during the break although it seemed to galvanise the pack.
Playing with pace, width and accuracy, veteran fullback Tony Bingham barged over the try line 13-10. More line breaking runs and offloads saw Benji Platt finish off a nice team try under the sticks 13-17. More territory and possession saw the Broughton Park side buckle, conceding a penalty converted by Dan Wilson. Final score 13-20.

Some exciting, top-end rugby played by a young fit Kendal side. The new back row combination of Alistair Thompson, Liam Nicholson and Ben Dixon impressed. Hooker Robbie Collinson shone. Worth mentioning is the half-back combination of Dan Wilson at scrum half and back rower Dan Greenwood at 10. Both volunteered to play in these key roles as team mates dropped out injured. It's a mark of their character to step up for their team mates when asked.

A great result on the road sees Kendal 8th in the league and looking competitive at this level.
