The second XV didn't have a full team until 10pm on Friday night, after many 'calls to arms' from team management Rob Quarry and Arthur Perie. In the end, two Vets and a Colt graced the bench, to allow the much-changed team to travel to Liverpool Collegiate.
Mark Carruthers opened the scoring to break the deadlock with a penalty after 10 minutes 0v3, before Nick Carlton ran in a hat-trick of tries to push Kendal ahead...
His first unconverted try was after 18 minutes 0v10, which rallied Collegiate and they forced a penalty 4 minutes later 3v10.
On 26 minutes, Nick Carlton went over for his second try, which this time was converted (Mark Carruthers?) 3v17. Again Collegiate rallied and managed to break down the Kendal defence on the stroke of half-time with a converted try 10v17.
Only 2 minutes into the second half, Nick Carlton struck again for his hat-trick 10v22, only to be countered 7 minutes later by an unconverted Collegiate try 15v22.
Things were tight for the next quarter of an hour with no scoring, until Richard Whittaker went over for an unconverted try with 12 minutes to play 15v27.
Again Collegiate rallied with another converted try 22v27, but Kendal held out to keep their fantastic unbeaten record, extending it to SEVETEEN games in-a-row!
Kudos to Colt Ethan Close and Vets Danny Airey and Rob Quarry for 'stepping up to the plate' when duty called...
Another fantastic performance and a CUP FINAL to look forward to on Saturday 5 May 2018. A bus has been booked and the are still a few seats left. It could be great to fill it to increase our vocal support, so if YOU fancy joining us, please email KRUFC@caross.com or leave a message at Club Reception!
