Rochdale may be struggling this season but they gave the Development team a good game, but Kendal ran out worthy winners.

Although mid-table Rochdale came into the game on a run of five losses but gave Kendal a good game.

Kendal took the lead after just three minutes. A good run from a scrum from No 8 Josh Chaplow, then saw the ball moved to wing Chris Wakeford (?), Tom Slater added the conversion 7v0

It took another quarter of an hour for the second score. After good build up work, flanker Tom Whitehead went over, with Tom Slater again adding the conversion. 14v0

Five minutes later a good break by Leo Mercer, saw him dummy a pass, then use his speed to power through for a try, which Tom Slater converted from close to the right touchline. 21v0

A good run by left wing Chris Wakeford was ended by a high tackle, but led to a try from fullback Jordan Field. 26v0.

The final try of the half was a second for Jordan Field. 31v0

It took only a minute of the second half for Kendal to score again. A good run by a Kendal substitute forward was ended near the line, with an injury which forced him off, but the ball was re-cycled and with players queuing up out wide, it was flanker Peter Redhead went over 36v0

It took a quarter of an hour for the next try. Antony Gage who had come on as a substitute won lineout ball, and prop Grant Parker went over for the try. 41v0

It took only a further three minutes for Kendal to score again. An excellent long pass from Tom Slater found Jake Chaplow on the wing and Slater added the conversion. 48v0

Kendal immediately scored again, a good Tom Slater kick up field, was chased by fullback Jordon Field, the move was taken on by left wing Chris Wakefield, then Leo Mercer whose pass found Field for the try. Tom Slater converted again. 55v0

With ten minutes to play a Matthew Kaye rolled a kick into the corner which beat the chasing players. However second row Jack Gater (?) gathered the Rochdale throw and crash over. Tom Slater added the conversion. 62v0.

The final try came from Matthew Kaye. Prop Grant Parker (?) made a storming run out of defence, and Kaye, gathered his pass one handed and outpaced the defence to score in the corner 67v0.

Rochdale had a chance of a try but the ball was lost over the line, but for the most part the Kendal defence repelled all that was thrown at them.

A entertaining game and excellent performance with some quality back up work, sent the small crowd home happy.
