It is difficult to read Wirral’s form so far. Sitting 6th in the table with six wins from ten games – sounds good.

Read it again and they have not lost at home – but are yet to win away – only one point dropped at home, but only one gained on the road - So there is hope

Look again at who they have played away from home. Preston Grasshoppers, Lymm, Hull and Billingham – so four of the top five, and you can see why they will be looking for their first win on the road this season. Whilst at home they have wins against the bottom four, Morley, Birkenhead Park, Pocklington, and Sandal, plus Ilkley – and more impressively 51v28 against Harrogate.

A fortnight ago, they won by 4 points in 58 against local rivals Birkenhead Park .

Last season both teams won away with Kendal getting an unexpected 8 point win at the start of the season, but losing by 6 just after Christmas.

The elusive first win at Mintbridge, could see the team jump from tenth to seventh, should results elsewhere go our way, and put us just two points behind our visitors.

Unless it is a draw one team will break an unwanted record for the season

TEAM : A fairly settled team.

The same back division for a third week.

Whilst up front Will Montgomery moves into the second row in place of Ben Leacock, with Matty Houghton returning to the back row, whilst Chris Downham is back, in place Ben Dixon who played very well at Workington last weekend. The front row is as last week, with Garry Holmes and Duncan Green starting on the bench with Chris Park.

WEATHER : After a wet week, Saturday afternoon is forecast dry for the game – but it looks as if it will be cold.
