Kendal Rugby Club Celebrates Season 24/25 at Annual Awards Dinner

On Saturday 14th June, senior players, members and volunteers came together to celebrate at their annual awards dinner for the 2024/25 campaign, recognising the performances, dedication, and achievements of players across all teams.

Wasps
The Wasps team enjoyed a memorable evening, with Hannah Metcalfe taking home the coveted Players' Player award, while Allysia Hine was recognized as the Coaches' Player of the season. India Brennan's progress throughout the campaign was acknowledged with the Most Improved Player award.

Presentation of Wasps caps to three long-serving players who reached the significant milestone of 100 appearances for the club. Aimee Sharp, Fleur Stanton, and Hayley Hodgson were all honoured for their commitment and loyalty to Kendal Rugby Club.

2XV VIKINGS
The Vikings team demonstrated the strength of rugby development at Kendal, with Luke Middleton earning the Players' Player award and Charlie Elbourne being named Coaches' Player. The future looks bright with Evan Beattie taking home the Young Player award, highlighting the promising talent coming through the ranks.

1XV
Ollie Rose claimed the Players' Player award while Dan Shorrock was selected as the Coaches' Player. Oscar Coxon's emergence as a key player was recognized with the Young Player award, demonstrating the club's continued ability to develop young talent.

Ollie Rose and Patrick Wolstenholme received Club Badges for the 2024/25 season.

Club Badges were also presented to Aaron Stephens, Joe Anderson, Barney Coxon and Devin Coyle for 2023/24 Season

Captain Ben Dixon gave special thanks to Greg Wrathall, who has been a dedicated member of the first team since 2019. Dixon thanked Wrathall for his commitment and contribution to Kendal Rugby Club as he prepares to join Penrith Rugby Club for the upcoming season, wishing him well in his new chapter.

Special Recognition Awards
Two special awards highlighted the broader contributions. Johnny Swallow was presented with the Mike Milker Award, while Stephen “Doc” Green received the Clubman Award in recognition of his outstanding service and dedication to Kendal Rugby Club as chair for 20 years.

A Special Evening with England International Mark Wilson
The evening concluded on a high note with guest of honour England international Mark Wilson sharing insights from his distinguished rugby career. Wilson captivated the audience with stories from his time representing his country and playing at the highest levels of the sport, before taking questions from the floor in an engaging Q&A session.

Special thanks go to Adrian Nutter, who acted as compere for the evening, ensuring the event ran completely off schedule (ha-ha) but maintained the celebratory atmosphere throughout the night – in all seriousness thanks Ade – great job.

Looking Forward
The awards dinner once again demonstrated the strength and unity of Kendal Rugby Club, celebrating not just individual achievements but the collective spirit that makes the club special. With such a strong foundation of talent across all teams and age groups, the future looks promising for Kendal Rugby Club.

The evening provided the perfect platform to recognise the hard work, dedication, and achievements of all involved with the club and the sore heads that followed the day after.
