The RFU has just published new guidance for the management of concussion sustained on the rugby field for both children and adults. The guidance states that mini/youth players (U6 to U19) must have 2 weeks complete rest after a concussive injury with a graduated return to play once symptom free. The earliest return being 23 days after the event.
Adults must have a minimum of 19 days stand-down after a concussion unless they are assessed by a trained and experienced medical practitioner.
Kendal RUFC has adopted this advice as a matter of policy and will support all coaches in the use of these guidelines.
