Last Live Kendal Games of Season at Mint Bridge

Last Live Kendal Games of Season at Mint Bridge

Mark Hodgkiss17 Apr - 19:35

SATURDAY : 3pm : Vikings vs Fylde (4) / SUNDAY : 2pm Wasps vs Liverpool St Helens

The First XV (and Senior Colts) have finished for the season, but still one weekend of rugby at Mint Bridge, with both the Vikings (Second XV) and Wasps in action in important games, so please come down and give them some extra support if you can.

On Saturday kick off 3.00pm, the Second XV who are League leaders face the team in second Fylde (4) who are the only team to have defeated them on the field this season (they conceded a game at Littleborough who Fylde finish their season against next Saturday on the day of the Cumbria Cup Semi-Final against Penrith)

Not quite a “title decider” as the Vikings have a seven point lead, so even if Fylde win they will also have to win at Littlebrough to overhaul the Vikings. There are no try scoring bonus points but you do get a point just for turning up and there are losing bonus points

Whilst this is a last League game, there is still a game to come for the Vikings as they have a Cup Final against Prenton, who also currently top their League (with a few games to come). The game will be played at Ormskirk and if you are thinking of going it is an early kick off at 1.45 (2nd May) possible it is an afternoon of Cup Finals ?

There will also be a Cumbria County game at Mint Bridge early in May.

WEATHER : My (the MetOffice’s) forecast was questioned before last week’s game at Heath, as it was raining very heavily – only to clear up and be correct for the game itself.

It is another uncertain afternoon. Cloudy, but possible sunny spells, also possibility of a shower (sorry couldn’t fit in snow; thunder or an earthquake).

WASPS :
On Sunday, kick off 2.00pm the Wasps play their last home game of what has been a tough season of transition with a lot of new players being introduced, and injuries and unavailability for some previous regulars.

The Wasps sit just one point behind Sefton at the foot of the table (after Birkenhead Park dropped out of the League). So a win this weekend (or next at Halifax) could see they move up (depending on how Sefton who are home to Halifax but finish with a daunting trip to Driffield, who are currently second but could overtake Bishop Auckland who have a one point lead and they play this weekend)

This weekend’s visitors Liverpool St Helens sit fourth with nine wins from their fourteen games, including a 34v5 win against the Wasps in the game earlier in the season

Halifax who both the Wasps and Sefton play are in seventh (one place above Sefton) with five wins from their fourteen games.
