Christmas Update from the Club and RFU

This information will have since been overtaken by new Tier 4 restrictions

Look out for further updates

====

Our announcement about the RFU playing clusters proved to be premature. Having put two Cumbrian Tier 2 Clubs (Us and Kirkby Lonsdale) in a group with four Lancashire Tier 3 teams (Preston, Vale, Blackburn and Rossendale) it was obvious that the cluster was unworkable as Tier 3 Clubs cannot travel nor could we visit them.

We and KL raised this with the authorities and a more sensible grouping of Cumbrian teams (Penrith, KL, Carlisle, Upper Eden and Keswick, etc) was suggested. This was due for confirmation on Tuesday 22nd, but has been delayed until after the next Government review on December 30th in view of the uncertainty caused by the surge in Covid cases.

The next announcement from the RFU is not expected until 5th January, but the date of 23rd January remains the target to start the adapted games. All this is very frustrating, particularly as even if we play, the current social restrictions present difficulties in enjoying time at the Club.

In the meantime we look forward to better times in 2021 as the vaccine program rolls out. We are all extremely grateful to members and sponsors who have supported us during the nightmare of the pandemic; you have made a huge difference to our Club’s future.

We hope that you all enjoy a safe, if short, festive break and wish you all the best for the New Year.

Stephen Green
Chairman KRUFC.
