T.H. Wiggans Ironmongery has sponsored the Kendal RUFC Hornets U7s by providing a brand-new team kit.
As part of their commitment to giving back to the local community, T.H. Wiggans chose to support grassroots rugby by supplying the Hornets U7s with new branded rugby shirts, shorts, and socks.
The team is managed by Alex, Keith, and Bob.
Keith, owner of T.H. Wiggans Ironmongery, said:
“Being new to Kendal rugby, I wasn’t fully aware of how kit supply worked at the start of the season. We began back in September with very little preparation – only a couple of training sessions before matches started – and most importantly, no proper kits for the kids.
Most of the teams we’ve played against have had full kits and official sponsors, so turning up without one did make us feel a bit like the ‘dirty dozen’.
Over the first half of the season, the kids have played brilliantly, held their own, and our numbers have grown to around 15 players some weeks. As a parent, I’m incredibly proud of all the boys and girls taking part. From my experience in competitive team sports, having a proper team kit really does give a sense of identity and belonging.”
About T.H. Wiggans Ironmongery
T.H. Wiggans Ironmongery has been supplying architectural ironmongery, hardware, and tools to trade customers in Kendal and the surrounding area for over 50 years.
The Hornets U7s kits are sponsored by their online sister company, Trade Door Handles, which is opening its first bricks-and-mortar shop in Carlisle this April.
You can find them at Trade Door Handles: https://tradedoorhandles.co.uk
Hopefully the kits can be kept together and reused by future Hornets U7 teams in the years to come.
