After a few weeks of training, this training game for both sides could not have gone better

For the under 9s first fixture of the year, we welcomed our good friends from North Ribblesdale.
It was a perfect morning for rugby, the sun was out, the pitches were in great shape, and the under 9s were out in force, with many of the new additions to the squad itching to make their first appearance.

Both sides had spent the first month of training, adapting to contact rugby and moving on from tag.

North Ribb had travelled across with 1 team. The 9s were split into 4 groups, and would rotate round from the match, to a tackle shield session, and then another live game against each other.

All 4 sessions went really well, all the guys buying into what the coaches were coaching, listening hard, and developing an ever growing skill set.

The 3 matches against Ribb were really even. Louis was selected as captain for the first game and he really lead from the front, taking charge off the defensive line, and leading the charge when in possession, closely followed by Idris Morgan and Sammy Birch. Kendal running out victors with some excellent attack, but built off some great defence.

Eve was selected as skipper for game 2 and again lead from the front, followed by Chris, Oliver and Jack. Both Kendal and Ribb scored some great tries, and some great tackles which the large gathering of parents really appreciated.
Game 2 was drawn.

In Game 3 Ribb were tiring, but never gave up and kept tackling and running back hard at Kendal. This was met with some great defence from Frank, Matthew, and Will.

Both sides can be very pleased with how the morning went, both playing some great attacking rugby, and both sides showing an eagerness to get stuck into the tackling, all coaches from both side were very proud of all the players.

Chris was awarded the player of the day for his tireless defence, and strong running in attack, well done!

Back to the training pitch next week guys, see you all there!!
