More tackling!!

After a couple of cancelled games either side of our fixture against Kirkby Lonsdale we finally got back to some training which allowed us the opportunity to focus again on improving our tackling; both individually and as a team by applying pressure in groups of players. Thanks to a large turn out by our keen young squad we were able to put them through a couple of different drills and then consolidate them in a practice game. As has been the case all season, they all showed a lot of enthusiasm with the new drills and it was particularly pleasing to see just how quickly they picked up on what was asked of them. The physical nature of the session certainly seemed to suit our energetic squad and we were able to work on improving individual technique, a lot of which was geared around getting our players to tackle lower and follow through with the tackle by bringing the ball carrier to the ground. There were a lot of strong contenders for player of the week this Sunday, but through a big improvement in his commitment to tackling over the course of the season and ability when working as a team and keeping good width, this week it went to Blake A - well done. Other notable mentions for their work on the tackling drills and listening and improving their technique go to Oliver T, Jake B, Coen E and Harris W. Well done everyone, continue to work on your tackling and defending as a team and we’ll be in great shape for our return fixture with Kirkby.
From all the coaching and management team; enjoy the Easter break and don’t eat too many chocolate eggs!!
