Kirkby Lonsdale U9s v Kendal U9s

Our return fixture at Kirkby Lonsdale this Sunday saw our young players enjoy some good rugby on a damp and muddy pitch, which once they’d all got a little dirty they all really enjoyed. Despite the slippy conditions our young hornets continued to try and play a good passing game, and although this resulted in the odd dropped ball, it also showed a lot of skill.
All of the games were keenly contested, with perhaps the lost possession from our eagerness to get the pass away handing the advantage to Kirkby, but there was plenty of exciting tries for Kendal as a result of our willingness to pass. As was the case in our earlier fixture; again it was great to hear from the Kirkby coaches on how they enjoy the spirit in which the games between our two clubs are played and it was particular pleasing to hear them congratulate our players on some of their passing moves, which they commented to me they hadn’t seen any other teams they’d played this year pass as well as us. So very well done again to all our young players, on a very entertaining Sunday morning.
Unfortunately one of our coaches forgot to pick a player of the week this Sunday, which is probably just as well as it would have been a very difficult task to single anyone out. Everyone got stuck in, everyone made good yards with the ball in hand and more and more of our squad are improving in the tackle so it was a real team performance on Sunday.
