Penrith U10 v Kendal U10

After a tough opening game against N Ribblesdale, the Kendal Under 10s put in a massive improvement in the games up at Penrith this weekend.
The work the coaches and players had put in the previous weekend on getting to grips with the tackle and ruck area really paid off against Penrith, where the ability of the Kendal players to recover the ball from Penrith at the ruck allowed them to dominate possession and get the ball out to their attacking players to make good strong forward runs.
Leading the way at the ruck were the likes of Alfie, Caleb, Kurt, Daniel and Cameron who have quickly got to grips with this new technique. Combined with some excellent tackling from Harris, Willow, Leo M, Harry and Marcus (who shrugged off a bit of a knock), enabled our strong runners; Carla, Logan, William O, Iestyn, Alex and Harry M to make good yards and score some good tries.
All in all, an excellent morning was had by all. Penrith have a good sized U10 squad with some very good players who were evenly matched with the Kendal players and all the games were played in excellent spirit. We look forward to hosting them at Kendal later in the year, and having not played them for a few years, hope now that this is a permanent fixture in the rugby calendar.
The two players of the week trophies this week were both awarded for the same reason; both players showed good ability in all areas of the game, getting stuck in at the ruck, helping the team out defensively and managing to score a few tries, so very well done this week to Ben O and Leo K.
