The Wasps welcomed Chester to Mint Bridge looking to maintain their unbeaten record so far this season. With several players missing the Wasps still had a full squad of 22 ready for the game.
Chester started the game brightly, taking the game into the Kendal half. After a spell of pressure, Vanessa Temple read the play excellently and intercepted to go the length of the field. The conversion was added to make the score 7 nil.
Kendal then started to take control of the game, the scrums in particular causing Chester all kinds of problems. A flowing move took the Wasps into the Chester 22, the ball was recycled allowing Abby Bland to beat two defenders and force her way over the line. The try was again converted.
The first half finished with Nessa Temple adding her second try of the game, after turning the ball over in midfield the ball was spread wide and Nessa beat three defenders to score under the posts. Abby Bland again converted bringing the score to 21 nil at half time.
The second half was a tough battle with Chester upping their game and looking to run the ball at every opportunity. Some great defence from Rachelle Malette at full back kept Chester out.
With penalties giving Chester some good field position, the Devas had a long spell of pressure in the Kendal 22. Eventually the pressure told and the Devas sent the ball wide to score in the corner.
Luckily the try brought the Wasps back into the game, the offloading game that saw two bonus point wins earlier in the season returned and this nearly resulted in a great try but Harriett Metcalfe was just bundled into touch before reaching the line.
The Kendal pressure told and Nessa Temple scored her third try of the game, her tenth try in three games this season. Bland again converting, 100% kicking in the last two games now for Abby Bland.
The game ended with a great break from deep from the Chester full back, luckily Nessa Temple covered across to smash her in to touch. That brought the game to a close, the final score 28-5 to the Wasps.
Bryoni Bland was forward of the match in an action packed performance, Laura Mason also played very well in her first full game. Nessa Temple was named back of the match by the Chester team.
Plenty to work on for the Wasps before the league favourites, Vagabonds, make the trip to Mint Bridge on the 1st November.
