Kendal traveled to Manchester looking to improve after their record win against Altrincham last week.
The Wasps started the game in fine form, going through several phases and threatening on a couple of occasions but desperate Manchester defence kept them out. Eventually, the pressure took its toll and Hayley Hodgson scored out wide.
Vanessa Temple was next on the score sheet, again after good phase play from the Kendal forwards. Kerry Proctor added a well worked forwards try when she barged over from close range. Abby Bland then broke through from close range to score before Nessa Temple rounded off the first half scoring, adding her second try of the game. This brought the half time score to 31 nil.
The second half was a similar story to the first with Kendal controlling the game and keeping Manchester pinned in their own half.
Tanya Bushell scored a fine scrum half try when she broke from half way and ran in under the posts. Straight from kick off Nessa Temple completed her hat trick after a typical break from deep and beating several defenders on her way to the try line. Abby Bland added her second of the game from close range before Laura Mason flopped on a loose ball to swag her first try of the season. The games final try was scored by Naomi Boorman after a sweeping backs move and great work from Fleur Stanton. This brought the full time score to 62 nil.
This was a very good performance from the Wasps, controlling the game from start to finish. Forwards worked tirelessly and the backs looked dangerous throughout the game, committed defence didn't allow Manchester time to settle into the game. Hayley Dixon was awarded forward of the match after a strong display as she comes back from injury and Harriet Metcalfe was back of the match, in a game where she also played back row!
The Wasps now look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season at home to Birkenhead Park who are second in the table. The game kicks off at 2pm on Sunday 15th November, the Wasps would appreciate your support.
