On Sunday Darlington Ladies travelled to Mintbridge to face the Wasps in a top of the table clash. In their penultimate game of the season the Wasps kicked off with just 14 players, this did not reflect in the Wasps fiery attitude.
The first half was extremely well matched with high intensity, strong forward play, and solid defence from both teams. Neither team was able to find a break to put any points on the board.
As they got going into the second half Kendal Wasps suffered the loss of several players due to injury, still their fitness and team spirit held off Darlington from scoring.
Eventually Darlington managed to find a gap in the Wasps lack of numbers and scored 2 tries in succession.
This fuelled the Wasps on further and Hayley Hodgson pushed through the Darlington defence to put points on the board for Kendal.
The Wasps played most of the second half with just 11 players on the pitch and the Darlington squad bringing fresh legs onto the pitch resulted in the final score of 24-5 to Darlington.
Kendal Wasps play their final game against Birkenhead at home on Saturday 23rd April before the men's team play, this game could see Kendal Ladies Wasps winning their league two seasons in a row - a must watch!
