Preston Ladies Grasshoppers came to Mintbridge with a mission to try and reverse the score from the first game that the Wasps played against them this season.
The game started with the Wasps looking really keen for the ball, within a few minutes Preston had found a gap in Kendal's defence and powered through for the first try of the game. This was not converted but it gave the Wasps the fighting spirit they continued to play with through this tough game.
There was strong supportive play from the Wasps forwards and powerful runs from Kerry Proctor and Laura Mason. Excellent handling from Hayley Hodgson gave Sarah Wilkinson her first try of the game and this was converted by Emma Chadwick.
Good defence from Preston made it really hard work for Kendal in really mild temperatures but a well organised scrum and good hands led to Sarah Wilkinson to scoring again, no conversion.
Coming into the second half Preston really pushed Kendal hard, the Wasps were pushed back to their own try line but kept their defensive line well. Preston persisted and eventually pushed through to score a second try.
The Wasps showed their fighting spirit, never giving up and Kerry Proctor smashed her way through scoring the final try of the game.
