Despite a long journey to Sunderland and pounding heat the Wasps showed up with masses of energy today.
In the first scrum of the game Rowan Boardley gained an injury taking her off the pitch and meaning the Wasps had no subs. This gave the Wasps even more fire.
Once again Hayley Hodgson opened up the try scoring with Sunderland answering back with a try of their own, as well as scorin a drop goal from a penalty against the Wasps.
Michele Larkin then saw an opportunity and showed her immense speed running from deep and beating players to score her first ever try. Sunderland persisted and eventually matched us by scoring another try.
The Sunderland players showed their frustration in not being able to control the game but the Wasps kept their cool and Chelsea Clarkson found a gap and made a massive run to also score her first ever try.
Larkin then made another amazing run handing off countless Sunderland players to score her second try.
Clarkson then reacted like lightening intercepting a Sunderland pass and running over half the length of the pitch, Aimee Sharo showed excellent supporting play by securing the ball when Clarkson was tackled which meant a quick pop pass to Hodgson gave the Wasps the 5th and final try of the game. Hodgson converted 3 of the trys resulting in a final score of 31-20.
Emma Rowlinson was chosen as forward of the match and Clarkson as forward of the match.
