With the start of the League season postponed for a fortnight due to the effect of the dry summer on grounds, another pre-season game, this time against one of the teams who will be faced when the League starts.

A fairly even first half (two quarters) with the only score coming from a Blackburn counter-attack. Kendal had won a penalty which Aaron Stephens put close to the Blackburn line, but the throw missed the jumpers (or visa versa) and Blackburn gathered to set up a length of the field move for the score. 0v5

Kendal had a chance to hit straight back. Blackburn failed to deal with Aaron Stephens re-start and Kendal had a lineout in the Blackburn twenty-two, but this time the throw wasn’t straight and the chance was gone.

Blackburn were also having problems with winning their lineouts, but several times read the Kendal call and stole Kendal ball.

The lead was quickly doubled after the restart, with a try following an interception, and Blackburn appeared to step up several gears to run in three more tries with the final one converted 0v27

Kendal had the final score, with Dan Shorrock going over from short range on the left, following good work by the Kendal forwards. 5v27

With mistakes both in attack and defence contributing to the scoreline, (especially in the lineout) the result could have been much closer, but Blackburn certainly looked the better team for much of the second half.

Aaron Stephens and Patrick Wolstenholme again had good games, whilst Alfie Bradshaw who had not been involved at Keswick played well, as did Dini Noyo who came on the second half.
