Well, I'm not sure why I've been asked to do this report, but as Frank is away trying to get some confused Frenchmen to join Kendal Supporters Club, and Mark is seeing his Mum in Wales, it seems it's down to me.
Or maybe it's because my Grandad played for Broughton Park (fact!)
Well, arrived at Mint Bridge on a cold but sunny afternoon to be greeted with the usual warm banter from the car parking lads.
The crowd was disappointingly down on previous weeks.
The game started with Kendal kicking towards the Farley's end and were soon on top. Early pressure told and after 5 mins took the lead with Chris Downham going over with Glenn Weightman adding the extras 7-0.
After 13 mins the lead was increased when Weightman took a quick tap penalty on halfway, followed by a strong surging run by James Thompson, who off loaded to Zane Butler, to go behind the posts. (14-0)
Broughton Park were getting penalised on a regular basis for not rolling away and from one such penalty, Glenn kicked to touch.
From the line out the ball was quickly moved through the hands to give Chris Park the try with Glenn again adding the extras. (21-0)
After 25 mins great hands and running rugby tore Broughton Park apart. Chris Downham scored the bonus point try, with Glenn again landing the conversion (28-0.)
This was great stuff from Kendal.Showing just what they are capable of, assisted by the drier pitch.
From a rare Broughton Park break-out there was some great defensive work by Mark Carruthers who quickly snuffed out the danger.
HALF TIME KENDAL 28 BROUGHTON PARK 0
Jack Lashley was replaced by Dom Musetti who was just returning after injury..
After 45 mins another great break saw a storming run through the middle by Danny Barker who then, unselfishly offloaded to his centre partner, Damian Armstrong, to score, Glenn again doing the honours. (35-0)
After 47 mins a Broughton Park second row was yellow carded for repeated offences.
50mins and another penalty saw Kendal go through the phases for No6 James Thompson to plunge over. Need I say, Glen slotted the conversion. (42-0)
60mins a rare Broughton Park break saw a great saving tackle by Chris Park. A scuffle ensued and the Broughton Park winger (No17) was yellow carded followed by a yellow for James Gough for retaliation (shock, horror). Damian Armstrong moving to scrum-half.
After 62mins Josh Chaplow replaced Chris Downham, who had had a great game and showed what a fabulous athlete he is. In fact the fitness levels throughout the team have improved vastly, and it shows.
I must mention the Broughton Park No13, who never stopped and always tried to inspire his team mates.
After another kick to the corner, from a penalty, there was another effective catch and drive and Jack Morphet touched down. Surprise, surprise, Glenn missed his first conversion. (47-0)
69 mins Jack Lashley, came back on to replace Glenn Chesher and Woofy replaced the impressive Mark Carruthers who had a smashing all round game in attack and defence.
After 72 mins the Broughton Park winger tried to run the ball out of defence but it was ripped from his hands to present Zane with another easy try. Glenn resuming normal service with the conversion (54-0)
78 mins from yet another penalty from holding on, another Zane try ensued, and yes, Glenn adding the extras. (61-0)
And so to injury time, of which there was very little and yet another Kendal break and at least an 8? Man overlap, the move was foiled by a deliberate knock on, the ref awarding the penalty try with Glenn doing what Glenn does.
FINAL SCORE 68-0
Well, hope you have not been bored by my first ever report.
A great win for Kendal, who, as the saying goes, could only play what was in front of them.
To the people who stayed away, they missed a treat.
Fair play to Broughton Park who never stopped trying to the end but were no match for a rampant Kendal on the day!
