.It is just seven weeks since the two teams last met, but (if my research is right) the last competitive meeting in Blackburn was almost forty years ago in September 1977.
In the home game, Kendal emerged comfortable winners, but since then Blackburn have lost just once (last weekend at fourth placed Penrith), and whilst sitting in eleventh position, they are already safe for a second season in this league, with their best victory coming a week after their visit to Mint Bridge, when they defeated Rochdale.
After the excellent Kendal performance last week, a repeat is needed to keep the bandwagon rolling, with our closest rivals meeting at Wilmslow, with Kirkby knowing that any slip up could take things out of their hands.
Don’t forget the Under 12’s Hornets are also playing at Blackburn at 1.30 on Saturday, so come early and support the Black & Ambers of the future. Who knows there may be the next Matty Houghton or Mark Carruthers out there, and you will be able to say you saw them first.
TEAM : Another settled team. Matty Kaye comes in for a rare appearance at scrum half (he’s not even on the squad list on the website – hence no ‘photo on the team sheet below) for James Gough. Ben Leacock comes in for Phil Murphy, with Jack Morphet taking Ben’s place in the bench
WEATHER : The forecast looks fine and dry.
