Match Report contributed by Doug Coates

This match was covered by your long distance supporter
Who is filling in as your last match reporter.
The long trip to Hull seemed as attractive as a vulture
Even though Hull is the City of Culture.
After this report I will probably be sacked
So I must just keep to the facts.

The Kendal side were as selected so a good game was expected
Especially after the close result at Kendal as I remember,
Which was played way back last September.
The two sides were well matched in the early exchanges
With neither side actually getting their ranges.
After fifteen minutes a penalty to Kendal was awarded
But Chris Park hit the post and thus the first score was thwarted.

Within a minute, however, Kendal got the first score on the board
A neat drop goal from Glenn Weightman, over the bar it soared.
Seven minutes on and things became a little gloomy
Hull got a try out wide which was converted by standoff Tomasi Tanumi.
Seven three was now the score and Hull again were looking for more.

For the next ten minutes Hull were on top
With all their backs proving difficult to stop.
The next score went to Hull after about half an hour
Their winger Stephen Hyheta showing some real power.
This try was also converted so by now the score is fourteen three.
Two minutes before half time Hull scored another try from a rolling maul.
So twenty one three was their half time haul.

For the first quarter hour of the second half Kendal held them out
But Hull then hit back with another try by the same winger
This proved to be a bit of a stinger.
As Holmes, Dervey and Mark Carruthers entered the scene
Replacing Ross McKay, Parky and Duncan Green.

During the game Dini had made a few good breaks
But we needed another score for all our sakes.
Kendal maintained good pressure on the Hull line
Which certainly was a very good sign.

So right at the end of the game, and the season,
Leroy allowed us to cheer for good reason
By scoring a try from the back of a rolling maul
Glenn Weightman then completed our points scoring haul.

Having won the second half scoring by seven points to five
Proved, to me that the lads’ spirit continues to thrive.
So now we can look forward to establish ourselves at our new home
With also new pastures in which to roam.
