A first ever fixture against Huddersfield YMCA, (unless you know differently). Currently they sit two places and four points below us at the foot of the table, without a win, having conceded a try scoring bonus points in each of their games so far.
They have however played three of their first five games away from home, and the two home losses have come against third place Bradford & Bingley, and Scarborough who are top. They scored 38 points in their opening game away to Malton & Norton, but still lost by 2 points. Other losses have come at Cleckheaton and Percy Park. So they will be targeting this game as an opening win.
For our team, it will be important to build on the good performance away to fourth place Morley last weekend, in a game that could have been won well, if a few passes had gone to hand. In both the last two games a number of opportunities were not taken. Put that right this weekend and we may see a good game, to get our season moving in the right direction.
TEAM : Just two changes from last week, one up front and one in the backs, plus two positional changes. Steven Nelson returns in the back row and is joined by Ben Dixon returning from his spell on the wing.
Ben’s spot on the wing is taken by Nick Carlton, moving out from the centre, with Mark Carruthers returning.
A totally changed bench, with Dane Blenkharn and Josh Chaplow, joined by Nathan Wooff making a return to the First XV after a season away in Penrith.
