A must win game if the team are to finish in the top three, to (probably) play at a higher level next season – and even then it is out of our hands, as if Waterloo get maximum points from their final two games we cannot catch them - but that won’t be easy for them, so we must not slip up in the hope they do.
No wins in March (although it included a free weekend and that late draw against Birkenhead Park), then we started April with a loss last week, with Glossop snatching a very late victory.
Like us Douglas’ last win, was against Bowden, theirs in early February. Bowden give them two of their three wins, with Carlisle being the other. Since then they had a losing bonus point against Birkenhead Park and a try scoring bonus point against Penrith. Draws against Altrincham Kersal and Glossop, and a losing bonus point in their first game Vale of Lune, make up their other points. The opposition have picked up try scoring bonus points, in all but three of their games, but we left it late in the away fixture.
TEAM : A few changes. For a first time this season Robbie Collinson does not start at hooker, with Matt Houghton moving from the back row. There is also no Greg Wrathall in the back row, so Dan Greenwood comes in, whilst last weekend’s Man of the Match Dane Blenkharn keeps his place, despite the return of Steven Nelson who failed a late fitness test before last weekend’s game.
No Dan Lowther, so Mark Carruthers moves from the wing to centre, with last week’s replacement Joe Cook starting on the wing.
Joe Fiddler, joins Liam Hayton and Alex Ryder on the bench.
WEATHER : The MetOffice have gone for a mix of cloudy, sunshine and clouds.
